Reviews and ratings

Occasionally, I'll post a book review here.  I tend to read within certain genres, and don't often read outside my main genres.  So you'll find a lot of fantasy, and occasionally some other weirder books peppered in.

These reviews are also posted to Amazon.  Since Amazon uses a star system, I'll put my star ratings here as well.  My ratings work like this:

1 star: Did not finish.  Gave it multiple attempts, but the book ultimately failed to engage me.  1 star ratings are rare, and I usually have to try a book 3-4 times before deciding I can't finish it.

2 stars: The book was painful to finish, and had few redeemable qualities.  Poor formatting that makes the book difficult to read, or the book did not feel ready to publish (read as more of an outline or a series of ideas) are common.

3 stars: The book read well, but had some issues that kept me from enjoying it.  Usually comes down to plot elements or structure.  Often times may be something I didn't like on account of taste.  Recommended for people who like similar books.

4 stars: I enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to people who enjoy the genre.  Has some minor issues that might have thrown me out of the story broken my suspension of belief too many times.

5 stars: The book was perfect, and scratched every itch I had.  Would go onto my favourites list to be read again.

Most of the books I review are picked because I wanted to read them.  If you would like a book reviewed, you can send me an email at my contact information on my website, but I make no guarantees that the book will be read or reviewed.
